The 76th annual Emmy Awards' outstanding actress in a limited series or movie was very remarkable. True Detective: Night Country was the show for which Jodie Foster won her first-ever Emmy Award. After four previous nominations, it was finally an award. 

True Detective: Night Country—A magical experience for Foster

"This is an incredibly emotional moment for me," she remarked, describing the HBO series as "a magical experience" and expressing her gratitude to Issa López, the creator of the new season of the anthology series.

Foster portrayed the role of Alaskan police chief Liz Danvers in True Detective: Night Country, whose investigation into the disappearance of eight men from a research station is central to the plot.

With this victory, Foster is now halfway to EGOT. Both The Accused and The Silence of the Lambs earned her Academy Awards.

Gratitude to the show's cast and Icelandic crew

Not only did Foster express her gratitude, but she also expressed love to the show's incredible, incredibly Icelandic crew and the rest of the cast, including her partner in crime, Evangeline Navarro, who received her own nomination at the Emmys.

Next, she thanked the indigenous Inupiaq and Inuit of northern Alaska. Foster described, "They just told us their stories and they allowed us to listen, and that was just a blessing. It was love, love, love, and when you feel that, something amazing happens. It's deep and wonderful and it's older than this place in this time. That's just the message, which is love and work equals art."

HBO ordered a fifth season of True Detective in February, with Night Country being its most popular season.

Foster honors Her family and fellow nominees in her acceptance speech

Foster honoured her wife, Alexandra Hedison, the love of her life, and their sons, Charlie and Kit, in her Emmy acceptance speech. All of her fellow candidates, including Brie Larson from Lessons in Chemistry, Juno Temple from Fargo, Naomi Watts from Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, and Sofía Vergara from Griselda, were there to cheer her on.
