Actor Urvashi Dholakia remains widely recognized for her portrayal of Komolika in the 2001 television series, Kasautii Zindagii Kayy, produced by Ekta Kapoor. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Urvashi reflected on the enduring influence of the show over the years. She recounted her initial meeting with Ekta Kapoor regarding the role of Komolika, during which Ekta expressed her conviction that Urvashi was the ideal choice for the character.

What Urvashi said

During the discussion, Urvashi revealed that upon entering Ekta Kapoor's office, the producer immediately exclaimed, "Komolika!" Unfamiliar with the name, Urvashi inquired about its significance. Ekta responded, "That’s your name for your next character… You won't believe it, she said, ‘You are going to be the next big sex bomb on TV!’" Urvashi admitted to being taken aback, as she struggled to comprehend the statement. She recalled undergoing a look test for the role, where she found herself walking around the entire Balaji office, pondering what expectations Ekta had for her.

Komolika was called OTT

Urvashi further commented, "While the character is celebrated today, back then, I faced criticism for being too over-the-top, with remarks about my eye makeup. Nowadays, every celebrity embraces such styles. Was that not considered over-the-top? People seemed to enjoy disliking me, and I unexpectedly gained immense popularity among younger audiences."

Kasautii Zindagi Kayy aired from October 29, 2001, to February 28, 2008, and featured notable actors such as Shweta Tiwari, Cezzane Khan, and Ronit Roy. The series garnered significant acclaim from viewers. Subsequently, Urvashi participated in Bigg Boss 6, ultimately emerging as the season's winner.
