Ed Sheeran recently opened up about his choice to refrain from performing at the highly sought-after Super Bowl halftime show. In a discussion on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 34-year-old artist admitted that he feels he lacks the "pizzazz" necessary to take the stage as a solo performer. Nevertheless, he did share the conditions under which he might consider participating in the NFL championship event.

Reflecting on a past opportunity, Sheeran mentioned, “There was a conversation about 10 years ago to go on with someone,” indicating that collaborating with another artist would be the only scenario in which he would agree to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. He elaborated on what he believes he lacks compared to those who have headlined such events.

During his conversation with host Alex Cooper, the "Shape of You" singer remarked, “I don't think English artists… I mean, some have the pizzazz of the Super Bowl - fireworks, dancers, blah blah blah,” and added, “But me going up there and being like, 'Here's the A-Team, here's Perfect.' No one wants to see that.”

He expressed his reservations, stating, “I can't see myself doing it. I don't think my set lends itself to that.” However, he did mention that he would be open to performing alongside another headlining act.

“I think I could do it for one song. If someone brings me on, I think I could do it really well for one song,” he explained. “But just... the catalogue [of songs] that I have doesn't really lend itself... Have you seen me play? Because I use a loop pedal, and I have to build the things... It doesn't really lend itself to the Super Bowl.”

The "I See Fire" artist further clarified, “Say it was Beyonce's show, and she had all the bells and whistles. And then there was a moment where we sang 'Perfect' together, that makes sense to me.” He reiterated, “But I can't picture myself doing it.”
