During a public event, the veteran actress reportedly remarked that a film with such a title would inevitably be a "flop" and expressed her intention to avoid watching it. The film also performed well at the box office.

Akshay Kumar breaks his silence

After a period of silence regarding the remarks, Akshay has now chosen to speak out. During a promotional event for his upcoming film, Kesari: Chapter 2, he was asked whether he felt hurt by the criticisms from fellow artists.

In a composed manner, Akshay Kumar replied, "Criticism? I don't believe anyone has criticized these films. Only a fool would disparage the types of films I have created — I made Pad Man. Consider Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Airlift, Kesari 1, and now Kesari 2. There are numerous such films. Only a fool would criticize them. I have poured my heart into these projects. They convey important messages to audiences, regardless of the film. Therefore, I don't think anyone has criticized them."

Akshay responds to Jaya Bachchan's remark

When asked about Jaya Bachchan's assertion that she would not watch Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay maintained a respectful tone. He remarked, "If she has said it, then it must be true — I cannot say otherwise. If creating a film like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a mistake on my part, then she must be correct in her assessment."

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha aimed to highlight the lack of sanitation facilities in rural India and was released in 2017, inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. The film, which also starred Bhumi Pednekar, achieved commercial success and garnered acclaim for its impactful storytelling.

Numerous individuals online have commended Akshay Kumar for his composed response, suggesting that he ought to have let his work speak for itself rather than engaging in a verbal confrontation.
