21 days ago | 5 Views
GV Prakash Kumar not only takes on the lead role in Kingston but also serves as its producer. The film is scheduled for release this Friday, March 7, in both Telugu and Tamil languages. It is produced under the banners of Parallel Universe Pictures and Zee Studios.
Regarded as India's inaugural sea adventure thriller, Kingston stars Divyabharathi as the female lead. This film marks her second collaboration with GV Prakash Kumar, following their work in Bachelor. In anticipation of the film's release, she engaged with the Tollywood media. Below are the key points from that interview.
Hello, Divyabharathi! How are you?
I am doing very well! I am thrilled to be in Hyderabad for the promotions of Kingston.
Last year, your role in Maharaja was brief yet impactful, wouldn't you agree?
Thank you! That film achieved significant success in Telugu as well. My character garnered considerable appreciation in Tamil, and I am delighted to receive similar affection from the Telugu audience. It brings me great joy to be recognized here.
Your pairing with GV Prakash Kumar in Bachelor was well-received. Now, you are reuniting with Kingston. How has your experience been this time around?
Bachelor was a tremendous success, and honestly, I never anticipated its release in Telugu. However, once it was released, the response was fantastic. In contrast to that film, Kingston is completely different. It is India’s first sea adventure thriller. I am also excited that this marks GV Prakash Kumar’s debut as a producer. When I was first offered the role, he was the only producer involved, and later, Zee Studios joined the project. He dedicated a great deal of effort to this film, and I am truly pleased to be a part of it.
GV Prakash noted that he sustained injuries while filming action sequences. Have you encountered a similar situation?
I did not experience any injuries. Our action choreographer, Dileep Subbarayan, implemented numerous safety measures. Additionally, I engaged in preparation for the action scenes.
Typically, heroines have limited chances to engage in action sequences. Were you excited about this opportunity?
It is indeed uncommon to receive such roles. My first experience with action was exhilarating. I even executed rope sequences in this film, which made me realize the challenges involved in action scenes! I am uncertain if I will have another opportunity as demanding as this one. I have already viewed the film and am quite pleased with it. Now, I eagerly await the audience's reaction upon its release!
Could you elaborate on your character in Kingston?
In Bachelor, I portrayed a city girl, whereas in Kingston, I took on the role of a village girl. The villagers depend on fishing for their sustenance. The entire community comprises fishermen living by the sea. However, what caused them to cease fishing? What curse plagues them? How do the hero and heroine contribute to unravelling this mystery? You will need to watch the film to discover! I play the love interest of the hero. As the hero endeavours to save the village, how does the heroine assist him? What motivates her to join him at sea? That encapsulates the essence of Kingston.
GV Prakash indicated that 'Kingston' is intended to be a franchise with three additional stories. Will your character persist?
Indeed! My character will carry over into the subsequent instalments.
Your proficiency in Telugu is impressive! How did you acquire it?
I have acted in a Telugu film titled GOAT, featuring Sudigali Sudheer, which is set for release. Furthermore, my assistant is a Telugu speaker, allowing me to practice the language with him. That is how I am improving!
Who are your favourite Telugu actors?
I am a great admirer of Power Star Pawan Kalyan! I truly enjoy Khushi. Additionally, I am a fan of Pushpa Raj, portrayed by Allu Arjun!
What projects do you have lined up?
I have completed two films in Tamil. In Telugu, I am currently in discussions for two projects.
