Earlier today, Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), announced his participation as the host for the Opening Ceremony of IPL 2025, which will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. SRK, along with several other Bollywood celebrities, is set to perform prior to KKR's inaugural match against RCB.

The official announcement states, "Prepare yourselves! The King of Bollywood has arrived! The one and only Pathaan—Shah Rukh Khan—is here to ignite the stage of the #TATAIPL 18 Opening Ceremony and captivate audiences with his irresistible charm. After 18 remarkable years of IPL, a celebration worthy of royalty is in order—get ready for an evening filled with elegance, enchantment, and unparalleled splendour."

About IPL 2025

The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 22, with the final match scheduled for May 25. This season will feature a total of 74 matches held at 13 different venues, including 12 double-header events. The opening game will see the reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), face off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 2025 IPL season will consist of 10 teams organized into two groups, following the format established in earlier seasons. The teams participating are: Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The final match of the 2025 season will take place on May 25 at Eden Gardens, which will also host Qualifier 2 on May 23.
