Director Mukesh Kumar Singh opened up about his vision for the film Kannappa during the teaser launch event in Mumbai on Monday. This historical drama explores the life of a devoted follower of Lord Shiva and aims to offer a fresh take on Indian mythology. Mukesh is eager to shift the focus from mythology to history. He mentioned, "People used to see this as mythology, but it’s actually our history... This is about understanding it as history instead of just mythology. That’s why interest in such films is on the rise. People are starting to recognize that there are real facts behind these stories. Not long ago, folks debated whether figures like Ram and Krishna were real, and now even Kannappa's existence is questioned. But there’s a village linked to him that’s acknowledged by the ASI. So, all of this is part of our history that’s been overshadowed by mythology. Now, it’s slowly coming to light, which is why it’s gaining popularity."

Mukesh also emphasized the love and care that went into making the film. "Everyone was committed to Shiva, and we were working on such a grand scale. The production went incredibly smoothly, without any stress. It was all about love and passion," he shared.

One standout aspect of Kannappa, according to Mukesh, is its breathtaking visuals. "The visuals are amazing because we’re telling a story set in the second century. What would Bharat have looked like back then? What about our rivers and forests? To find out, Vishnu ji even traveled to New Zealand. You can set up a camera anywhere there, and it’ll always produce a stunning shot. This 'wow' factor is sure to grab the audience's attention."

Kannappa, featuring Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Madhoo, and Mohanlal, is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025.
