Actor Dino Morea discussed his journey in Bollywood, highlighting that Raaz" stands out as one of the most significant films in his career. In a recent interview, he noted that the music and songs from the 2002 film continue to resonate with audiences today. He also compared the box office performance of "Raaz" to that of another notable 2002 film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Devdas," asserting that "Raaz" was the more profitable venture.
What Dio said
During the conversation, Dino reflected on the impact of "Raaz," stating, “That film created a tremendous buzz. It was released in the same year as Shah Rukh Khan's 'Devdas,' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, when we analyze the figures—considering our production costs and earnings—'Raaz' was the higher-grossing film of that year.”
He further remarked, “Although we only received two awards and none for music, the soundtrack was immensely popular and is still enjoyed by many today. We did win the New Jodi award, but no accolades for the music. 'Devdas' swept the awards that year, as it was a major film, which influenced public perception. Yet, in terms of revenue, 'Raaz' proved to be the more profitable film.”
‘Devdas won everything that year’
"Raaz," a supernatural horror film released in 2002 and directed by Vikram Bhatt, features Malini Sharma alongside Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu. The plot centers on Aditya (Dino) and Sanjana (Bipasha), a couple who relocate to Ooty in an attempt to salvage their troubled marriage, only to discover that their new residence is haunted.
On the professional front, Dino was last seen in the film "Mere Husband Ki Biwi," which stars Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar.
