Singer Diljit Dosanjh addressed the critics who slammed him for his tickets being sold on the black market. After his recent performance in Indore, he engaged with the crowd and posted a video on Instagram. He emphasized that we’re in a time that celebrates independent music and artists. Diljit also gave a shoutout to Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon.
Diljit worries about his tickets being sold on the black market.
In the video, Diljit mentioned, "For a while now, there's been this talk in our country that 'Diljit's tickets are being sold on the black market.' But how is that my fault? If you buy a ticket for ₹10 and sell it for ₹100, what does that have to do with the artist?"
Diljit noted that tickets were also sold on the black market.
He also mentioned, "Go ahead and throw as many accusations at me as you want. I’m not worried about being defamed. I’m not stressed at all. Did this all just start now? This has been happening since the beginning of cinema in India—₹10 tickets for ₹20. Back in the day, singers would perform in the background while actors lip-synced. Now, singers are in the spotlight. That’s really the only change."
Diljit notes upcoming challenges and acknowledges Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon.
Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon are on tour now, and I wish them all the best! This is the moment for independent music to shine. Sure, challenges will come up. Whenever there's a revolution, you can expect some bumps along the way. But we'll just keep pushing forward with our work.
Diljit shares his thoughts on independent artists.
All independent artists, it's time to step up your game and put in that extra effort! Indian music is finally getting its moment. In the past, tickets for foreign artists would sell for crazy prices on the black market, but now it's happening for our homegrown talent. This is what we mean by supporting local! He shared the video with the caption, "Jai Shri Mahakal (folded hands emoji)."
