Diljit Dosanjh Revises Stance on Performing in India; Deletes Initial Statement

Diljit Dosanjh recently raised concerns among his fanbase by voicing his dissatisfaction with the inadequate infrastructure for live concerts during a performance in Chandigarh. He indicated that he would cease performing until this matter is resolved. On Tuesday, Diljit took to social media to clarify that his earlier remarks had been misconstrued, although he subsequently deleted the post shortly thereafter. Additionally, he announced that he would refrain from conducting shows in India until improvements are made.
During the concert in Chandigarh on December 14, Diljit emphasized the substandard concert infrastructure in India, expressing his desire to perform in an environment where he is surrounded by his audience. He reiterated that he would not take the stage in India until suitable infrastructure is established.
Diljit Dosanjh provides clarification.
On Tuesday, the artist, currently engaged in a multi-city tour across India, utilized X, previously known as Twitter, to provide a clarification. He re-shared a tweet stating, “BIG NEWS: Diljit Dosanjh announces he won't do shows in India due to poor concert infrastructure.”
Diljit subsequently refuted the speculation, asserting, “Nope... I said CHD ch Venue di Prob. C (I indicated that the issue was with the venue in Chandigarh).”
He further elaborated, “So.. jab tak sahi venue nhi mil jata Mai Tab Tak CHD mai Next Show Plan Nhi Karunga.. (Thus, I mentioned that until I find an appropriate venue in Chandigarh, I will not schedule another performance in the city). That’s it,” he concluded.
Nevertheless, the singer removed the post from his social media account shortly thereafter.

Diljit interrupted his performance in Chandigarh to voice his concerns. In several videos that surfaced on social media, he is heard stating in Punjabi, “We lack the necessary infrastructure for live performances here. This is a significant source of income, providing employment opportunities for many... I will make an effort next time to ensure the stage is centrally located so that you can gather around it. Until that is achieved, I will not be performing in India, that is certain.”
He dedicated his Dil-Luminati concert to Gukesh Dommaraju, the newly-crowned International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion from India. Prior to the event, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) had released an advisory recommending that he refrain from including alcohol-themed songs in his live performance.
Regarding his tour of India.
Following his extensive tours throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, Diljit has now introduced the Dil-Luminati Tour to India. This tour has solidified his status as an international icon. The reception in India has been overwhelmingly positive, with tickets for his shows selling out in mere minutes. The Indian segment commenced in Delhi on October 26, and he has also performed in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The musical tour is set to conclude in Guwahati on December 29.
