Diddy’s Lawyers Claim Racial Bias: 'He’s Being Singled Out as a Powerful Black Man'

Sean 'Diddy' Combs' lawyers have submitted a fresh motion asking the court to throw out Count Three of the Superseding Indictment. This move follows prosecutors adding a new charge related to the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to transport people for prostitution or other sexual crimes. The controversial figure, who is currently locked up in Brooklyn facing sex trafficking allegations, is looking to contest this latest charge in his ongoing legal battle.
Diddy feels like he's being picked on
Prosecutors have recently added two more women to the list of those they say Diddy forced into sexual acts, according to The Mirror. This development broadens the charges against the music mogul, who is already facing serious accusations of sex trafficking and related crimes. Diddy’s legal team argues that he’s being targeted because he’s a powerful Black man and that he’s facing prosecution for actions that often go unpunished for others.
His lawyers pointed out the problematic history of the Mann Act, which was initially called the White-Slave Traffic Act, labeling it as "racist from the start" and claiming it still is today. They contend that this law has a long history of being used to unfairly target Black men while supposedly protecting white women. They also noted that hiring escorts is a common practice in American culture, especially in pop culture and television.
In their latest motion to have a specific part of the indictment dismissed, they stated, “No other person, and certainly no white person, has ever been prosecuted under the White-Slave Traffic Act for hiring male escorts from another State.”
The most recent motion from the defense
The defense's recent motion argues that "no white person has ever faced a prosecution like this." The documents highlight that "there's never been a RICO case quite like this one. No white individual has been the target of anything even close." Diddy's lawyers expressed worries about potential bias in the jury pool, which they believe could affect the trial's outcome.
They stated that "the way the government is handling this case shows clear bias and hostility. They've gone out of their way to embarrass Mr. Combs and sway the jury pool with pretrial media coverage that relies on racist stereotypes. They've also leaked harmful (and often inaccurate) information to the press," as reported by The Mirror US.
