Varun Dhawan, who is currently gearing up for the release of his spy action series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, won everyone's hearts with this quirky performance in Main Tera Hero. The film was helmed by his dad David Dhawan and it also starred Ileana D'Cruz and Nargis Fakhri in key roles. Several dialogues from the film went on to become quite famous. One of them was Varun's Swami dialogue. Recently, filmmaker and dialogue writer Milap Zaveri shared a surprising anecdote. Milap, who is awaiting the release of his next, Singham Again, revealed that David Dhawan wanted to remove the Swami dialogue from the film.

Why David Dhawan wanted to remove the ‘Swami’ dialogue from Main Tera Hero?

David Dhawan’s masala film Main Tera Hero became a box office success and opened doors of opportunities for the leading cast. The movie also grabbed attention for its quirky dialogues penned by Tushar Hiranandani and Milap Zaveri. Recently, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Milap Zaveri shared that David Dhawan wanted the ‘Swami type ka dialogue’ to be removed due to its length.

How did Varun Dhawan save the dialogue from being removed?

However, Varun approached Milap and asked him to send the dialogue on his phone. The next day, the Badlapur actor said the dialogue without David knowing about it. The dialogue, of course, later became a big hit and a fan favorite in the movie. Recalling the incident, Milap said, “The line, ‘Mein dikhta hu sweet innocent swami type ka but hu bahut bada harami type ka’ was cut one day before the shoot because the scene was getting too long. But Varun called me at night and asked where is that line. He also asked to send him through Whatsapp.”

The filmmaker and dialogue writer also added that he also asked Varun to flaunt the ‘Swami’ dialogue on stage as it is one of the most popular ones during his entire career and remains iconic even to this date. “Woh dialogue blockbuster ho gaya. Mein Varun ko hamesha bolta hu ki tere pure career mein tere paas ek hi dialogue hai jo stage pr bol sake,” Zaveri added.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun Dhawan will be next seen alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the titular role of the Indian version of Citadel titled Citadel: Honey Bunny. The web series will be released on Amazon Prime Video on November 7.
