Actor Dia Mirza has reacted after the CBI filed closure reports related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Dia questioned if the media "will have the grace" to apologise to Rhea Chakraborty and her family. The CBI filed two separate reports--in the abetment to suicide case filed by Sushant father and another by his rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty against his sisters, as per news agency PTI.

Dia Mirza questions media over harassment to Rhea

Dia Mirza expressed that the media inflicted significant distress and harassment on Rhea. She questioned, "Which media outlet will have the decency to issue a formal apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You engaged in a witch hunt, causing profound anguish and harassment solely for the sake of TRPs. An apology is the least you could offer. @rhea chakraborty (red rose emoji)," stated Dia. According to PTI, it will be up to the courts to determine whether to accept the report or mandate an additional investigation by the agency.

Dia Mirza added that the media caused “deep anguish and harassment” to Rhea.

What happened to Sushant

Sushant was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. He was 34. His postmortem conducted at Cooper Hospital had concluded that the actor died due to asphyxia.

More about the cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) examined two distinct cases. The first was initiated by KK Singh with the Patna Police, accusing Rhea of aiding in suicide and misappropriating ₹15 crore from the actor's accounts. The second case was lodged by Rhea in Bandra, where she alleged that Sushant's sisters provided him with medication based on a fraudulent prescription from a doctor in Delhi.

In the case brought before the Bandra Police, which was subsequently taken over by the CBI, Rhea claimed that Sushant passed away five days after receiving these improperly prescribed medications. Following an analysis that included expert opinions, crime scene evaluations, witness testimonies, and forensic findings, the CBI determined that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the claims that anyone had compelled the actor to take his own life, as reported by PTI, citing officials.

Ultimately, the agency opted to submit its final reports, thereby concluding five years of conspiracy theories regarding the actor's death. According to the medico-legal opinion provided to the CBI, forensic experts at AIIMS had refuted the allegations of "poisoning and strangulation" related to Rajput's demise.
