Fawad Khan's Bollywood comeback film, Abir Gulaal, which is set to premiere in theaters on May 9, encountered boycott calls from the Film Federation and also on social media following the horrific Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. While a portion of fans are thrilled about Fawad's re-entry into Bollywood, others oppose it, asserting that Pakistani actors ought not to be provided with work opportunities in India. Now, in a recent interview, Dia Mirza voiced her support for Fawad's re-entry into Bollywood and remarked that art ought to remain separate from animosity. Importantly, the interview took place prior to the terrorist incident in Pahalgam, and her remarks should not be seen as a response to the recent occurrences.

Dia Mirza on Fawad Khan's return to Bollywood

During an interview with News18 Showsha, Dia Mirza expressed her support for Fawad Khan’s comeback to Bollywood with Abir Gulaal. The Kaafir actress stated that art ought not to be associated with animosity. She mentioned, "I’ve always held the belief that art is and must always serve as the conduit for peace and harmony. We must never, ever permit art and sport to become entangled or mixed with hatred. It’s simply great that Fawad is back in the film, you know that we will be seeing him soon. I hope this paves the way for many more such opportunities for other collaborations. "

Fawad Khan's journey in Bollywood

Fawad Khan acted in three Bollywood movies, namely Khoobsurat (2014), Kapoor and Sons (2016), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). He attracted attention and affection for his charming acting abilities.

Abir Gulaal is facing calls for a boycott

Amid the Pahalgam terror attack, Ashoke Pandit, President of the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association, stated that this event is an act of war against the country, and these assaults have been happening for 30 years.

"We, as a federation, have implored with folded hands to avoid collaborating with Pakistanis. They provide ridiculous excuses such as artist, community, but ultimately, the nation must take precedence. People believe ‘if my family isn’t harmed, then I don’t care’, but if the film’s heroine or the makers’ relatives had been attacked by the terrorist, they would not have worked (with Fawad)," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Abir Gulaal is set to be released on May 9. The film is directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and also features Vaani Kapoor in the leading female role.
