Dhruva Sarja's Martin’s international press meet on August 5 has an agenda

The Kannada film Martin has been in the news in the last few days, not only for its impending release, but also for some unpleasant stuff. Martin, which has been delayed in production and took 3 years in the making, is coming to theatres on October 11. It would have released earlier, reckons producer Uday K Mehta, if the people who were initially entrusted with the film’s VFX work had lived up to what was expected of them. Instead, they took payments from Uday, but did not deliver at their end, forcing him to find other vendors to take up the work and file a cheating case against the former.
Amid all of this and director AP Arjun’s confession that he’s had differences with Uday, there were fresh worries about the release of Martin. The team, though, is adamant that this time around, there will be no more change. In fact, in the run-up to this, they are having an “international press meet” in Mumbai, at which the trailer of the film will be shown to international delegates.
The plan, says Uday, is to pitch the film to these representatives, who are being flown in from different parts of the world and ascertain their interest level in procuring the dubbing rights for their respective languages. Should anyone be interested, Uday is looking at having them begin the dubbing and release process in tandem with the India theatrical release. While a simultaneous release in foreign languages may not be possible, the team is looking at shrinking the gap as much as possible.
Martin, which is headlined by Dhruva Sarja, is releasing in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Bangla. The decision to dub the film in Bangla, says the producer, is because he was made aware of a big market for Indian cinema in neighbouring Bangladesh. He is looking at tapping audiences in West Bengal and Bangladesh with this version.
While the digital release of the trailer is on August 5 at 5.55 pm, Dhruva says that he is looking at giving fans an early glimpse, by having a theatrical release on August 4 at Veeresh theatre in Bengaluru. Tickets for the same will be available to book shortly,
