Dev, Ritwick Chakraborty voice against the ‘ban culture’ in Tollywood

A few months back, the Federation’s (the Federation of Cine Technicians & Workers of Eastern India) activity incited harsh debates. Now, a hairstylist complained of harassment and tried to commit suicide. Now, Dev and Ritwick Chakraborty questioned the Federation. Swarup Biswas — the president of the Federation — retaliated.

Ritwick Chakraborty told ABP, “Undoubtedly this is a ‘threat culture’. An organisation and a trade union’s responsibility is to improve. But gradual depoliticisation makes everything illegal.”

Dev said, “I guess many intelligent brains are at the top of the Federation. I would request that no one’s earnings be stopped. Let’s stop this ban culture. If someone tries to commit suicide due to the work environment, then it falls under the Federation’s jurisdiction.”

Previously, when complications happened regarding Rahool Mukherjee’s ban, the CM intervened and resolved the problem. It was then said that no one would be banned. But it still goes on.

However, the Federation’s president Swarup Biswas replied to those allegations. He said, “This is an artistic world. No one is threatened here or forcefully stopped to work. If someone is banned or suspended, a notice is issued. Please ask the woman who tried to commit suicide where she was suspended or banned.” He also said, “Some people are saying that they will see to the end. Is it not a threat? This is a threat according to my language.’
