Actor Shiva Rajkumar underwent surgery for cancer treatment in Miami, United States, two months ago, during which parts of his bladder were reconstructed using tissue from his small intestine. He returned to India in late January and has been in recovery since then. In a discussion on the Masth Magaa podcast, the actor disclosed that he continued filming during his chemotherapy treatment, as he aimed to complete his shooting schedule prior to undergoing surgery.
Shiva Rajkumar on shooting after cancer diagnosis
The actor expressed during the interview that he felt 'scared' upon learning he would need to undergo surgery for cancer. However, he reconciled with the situation when he understood that he had no alternative but to proceed with the operation. Additionally, Shiva mentioned that he was concerned about completing the filming of his upcoming project, 45, upon receiving the news.
He remarked, “The only question I posed was whether it was time for me to finish this (45). I felt a bit anxious because I was aware that chemotherapy leads to hair loss. Although the doctor cleared me, I was advised against overexerting myself. I would complete my chemotherapy sessions and then head to the set, which left me quite fatigued. I prefer not to disclose the specifics of what I did, but when you witness the climax of 45, you will be astonished by my performance. My role required a gentler approach rather than one filled with anger.”
Shiva further emphasized that he did not wish to take sole credit for his achievements, acknowledging the robust support system that surrounded him during this challenging time. He stated, “I now believe that God and my father (Rajkumar) likely played a significant role in my journey. I also received immense support from my wife, my family, the industry, and my fans. It truly is a blessing. Who should I express my gratitude to?”

He is set to appear in upcoming projects including 45, Uttarakaanda, and Bhairavana Kone Paata in Kannada. The actor is scheduled to begin filming for the first time following his diagnosis on March 5 for the Telugu film RC 16, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, under the direction of Buchi Babu Sana.
