Delnaaz Irani, the actress, has recently reflected on her decision to end her marriage with her former husband, Rajev Paul, more than ten years after their separation. In a recent interview, she disclosed that their relationship had deteriorated to such an extent that mutual respect was lost.

She also mentioned that numerous individuals have suggested that having a child together might have changed the dynamics of their relationship, possibly averting their divorce.

Delnaaz discussed her separation from Rajev during an episode of SCREEN's Dear Me, where she elaborated on their marriage, the factors leading to their separation in 2010, and their eventual divorce in 2012.

Reflecting on her choice to part ways with Rajev, Delnaaz stated, "I had emotionally exited the marriage long before the official separation. Rajev may deny it, but he too had distanced himself. He has never acknowledged it, but sometimes love and respect fade. For me, respect is crucial in a relationship. Today, when I express my love for Percy, it is rooted in deep respect for him. When respect is absent, it is wiser to leave. Some individuals opt to remain in an unhappy marriage, constantly complaining. However, why should we deceive ourselves? I refused to live a life filled with falsehoods. While people often tell me that having a child would have kept me from leaving, that remains purely speculative."

In the interview, she also addressed the backlash she received for her behavior towards Rajev on Bigg Boss. Delnaaz married Rajev at the age of 22, while he was 24.

Delnaaz expressed, “We faced significant challenges in our lives, often feeling lost and uncertain about our direction. We managed to rebuild our lives, but eventually, everything began to fade away. We grew apart; my marriage had effectively ended long before our separation. I held onto the hope that things would improve, but when you are emotionally, physically, and mentally drained, it is over. Many individuals commented during Bigg Boss about how he was still pursuing me, but I chose to ignore those remarks. They do not understand my experiences or the reality I faced. I was not in a good place. As a Virgo, I value honesty and loyalty while in a relationship. Once I move on, I am completely detached.”

Regarding Delnaaz and Rajev’s relationship, they were married for 12 years before their separation in 2010. Their journey began on the set of Parivartan in 1993, culminating in their marriage in 1998. Their divorce was finalized in 2012, shortly before they both participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 6.

Delnaaz has since found love with her fiancé, DJ Percy. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she shared that her 50th birthday marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, during which DJ Percy Karkaria proposed to her. Rather than a traditional marriage proposal, he invited her to grow old with him. She mentioned that they have chosen a unique path as a couple and are excited to explore it together.
