Deepika Padukone was among the first celebs to speak out against L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyam's recent comment urging employees of the infrastructure giant to work on Sundays. She made it clear that she wasn't satisfied with their follow-up clarification either.

Deepika's reaction to L&T's explanation

L&T found itself in hot water after its chairman made a controversial remark, prompting the company to clarify its stance. They stated, "Nation-building is central to what we do at L&T. For more than 80 years, we've been instrumental in developing India's infrastructure, industries, and tech capabilities. We see this as India's decade, a time that calls for united effort and commitment to achieve our common goal of becoming a developed nation. The Chairman’s comments highlight this broader vision, stressing that remarkable results need remarkable efforts. At L&T, we’re dedicated to nurturing a culture driven by passion, purpose, and performance."

On the flip side, Deepika wasn't satisfied with L&T's response either, feeling it overlooked her worries about employees' mental health. She took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday night to share the clarification, adding, “And they just made it worse….”

Deepika recently shared a statement from SN Subrahmanyam that said, “I wish I could make you work on Sundays. If I could, I’d be happier because I work on Sundays. What are you doing at home? How long can you just look at your wife? And how long can wives just look at their husbands? Get to the office and start working.” In response, she took to her Instagram Stories to express her disbelief, saying, “It’s shocking to see people in such high positions say things like this.” She also included the hashtag ‘Mental Health Matters’ in her post.

Since 2015, Deepika has been a strong advocate for mental health, sharing her own struggles with clinical depression. She founded the Live, Love, Laugh Foundation to support mental health initiatives. On the acting side, her latest role was in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again.
