Darshan’s Social Media Clean-Up: Sumalatha Unfollowed, Cryptic Post Sparks Buzz

The recent developments in Sandalwood have captured significant attention, particularly concerning Challenging Star Darshan. Notably, he has unfollowed all six individuals he was connected with on social media, which includes actress and politician Sumalatha Ambareesh and her son, Abishek. Following this action, Sumalatha shared an Instagram story that stated, “And the Oscar for best acting goes to… those who twist the truth, hurt people without remorse, shift the blame, and somehow still see themselves as the hero.”

This post appears to signal that tensions exist between the two families. Since his return home on bail related to the Renukaswamy murder case, Darshan has limited his interactions to a small circle of family and close friends. At a recent gathering at his residence, only actors Dhanveeraah, Rachita Ram, and Rakshita Prem from the film industry were present, suggesting that he is maintaining connections primarily with those who have supported him and his family during challenging times.
In response to the unfolding situation, Sumalatha clarified that her Instagram story was not aimed at anyone specifically, but rather a “general observation.” She expressed her surprise at the media attention surrounding Darshan's decision to unfollow her, stating, “I don’t understand why this is being projected as something else. It’s his personal choice and let’s respect that.”
Historically, Darshan has expressed a strong bond with the Ambareesh family, often referring to Sumalatha as ‘Mother India’ and considering himself as a son to her, with Abishek as his younger brother. Despite her attempts to quell rumors of discord, sources within the industry suggest that the relationship between the families may be strained.
Darshan, who was initially released on bail for medical reasons related to back problems necessitating surgery, has returned to work on his film Devil, directed by Prakash Veer. Production had been suspended following his arrest in June of the previous year, linked to the death of a fan, Renukaswamy, allegedly influenced by the actor and his long-time partner, Pavitra Gowda. His most recent appearance on screen was in Kaatera.
