The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding in a fascinating direction. The X-Men have arrived, the Fantastic Four are on their way, the Midnight Sons have been heavily teased, the Young Avengers are taking shape, and the darker corners of the MCU are being explored. One effort to establish the latter is Daredevil: Born Again, a show that will continue the story of the vigilante who is also a "very good lawyer." The series, featuring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, will build on his cameo in Echo and his Netflix series. It is one of the most anticipated shows worldwide, and the makers seem determined to make it special. However, it appears they’ve realized that adding a touch of Spider-Man could elevate the series to another level.
Marvel Studios Wants Spider-Man's Cameo in Daredevil: Born Again
For the uninitiated, Daredevil: Born Again has been a hot topic of discussion due to its potential connection with Spider-Man. This possibility has left fans eager to know whether Marvel Studios will take that route. Earlier rumors suggested that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would not appear in the series, with only a fleeting reference to the web-slinger. However, a recent update indicates that the studio may have changed its mind.
According to a report from Cosmic Circus, Marvel executives are now considering a cameo by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again. The studio wants the superhero to appear in the show to make it even more engaging. While this rumor feels like a long shot, especially with reshoots already completed, there are still over four months until the release, so anything could happen.
Previously, a scoop from My Time To Shine Hello stated that Wilson Fisk would deliver a speech after being elected Mayor of New York, encouraging citizens to stop relying on heroes who “dress as a spider, a devil, or a psycho vigilante with a skull symbol” to save them. This was expected to be the only Spider-Man reference in the show, but this now seems uncertain.
Brad Winderbaum on Daredevil: Born Again
For those unaware, Daredevil: Born Again aims to pick up where the Netflix series left off while ensuring it aligns with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock, having already made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home and appearing in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. This standalone series has high stakes, as it will be the second TV-MA-rated Marvel-Disney show after Echo. The darker tone of the story has only fueled excitement.
In an interview with Comicbook, Brad Winderbaum discussed the show, describing its tone as akin to a complex and intense New York City version of Game of Thrones. He elaborated: “Imagine if New York City was as intricate, problematic, and scary as the world of Game of Thrones. All these forces vying for control—it can be really hopeful at times, really violent at times, and dark. But there’s also light at the end of the tunnel if you just fight for it.”
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
