Rajinikanth is joining hands with hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, for his upcoming 171st outing cinema. The movie, which has been titled Coolie, is touted to be an action-packed gangster film. The new schedule of the highly anticipated project is set to start rolling in Chennai, very soon. As reported earlier, Manjummel Boys actor Soubin Shahir is set to make his debut in Tamil cinema, with Coolie. A new location picture of Soubin and director Lokesh, is now going viral on social media.

Recently, director Lokesh Kanagaraj took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle and dropped a special click from the location of Coolie, as he wished Soubin Shahir on his birthday. In the picture, the multi-faceted talent is seen in a rugged avatar, in a checkered shirt, red towel, thick moustache, and his signature bald look. “Working with you in Coolie has been an enthralling experience Soubin Shahir sir... Wishing you the absolute best and a very happy birthday sir,” reads Lokesh’s social media post.
As reported earlier, Soubin Shahir is appearing in the role of Dayal in the film, which is said to be a gangster thriller. For the uninitiated, the character was originally written for Fahadh Faasil, the National Award-winning actor who has previously teamed up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for Vikram. However, Fahadh turned down the offer due to his busy schedule, and the role eventually went to Soubin, who earned immense love with his portrayal of ‘Kuttettan’ in Manjummel Boys.
Rajinikanth is set to play the central character Deva in the upcoming Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. The movie features a stellar star cast including Telugu superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni, renowned Kannada actor Upendra, senior actor Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in the pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the songs and original score. Girish Gangadharan is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. Anbarivu handles the action choreography.
