Filmmaker Geetu Mohandas recently collaborated with actress Parvathy Thiruvoth to criticize the film Kasaba, directed by Nithin Renji Panicker and starring Mammootty, which contains numerous misogynistic remarks. Geetu expressed her belief that such films and their dialogues should not be celebrated, as they do not represent progress, and called for an end to such content. During a panel discussion that Geetu and Parvathy participated in, the topics of the male gaze and the objectification of women were addressed, making it unsurprising that Geetu faced criticism herself earlier today.

In celebration of actor Yash's birthday, the film team of his upcoming project, Toxic, directed by Geetu, unveiled a teaser. This preview showcases the Kannada superstar entering a club or casino, surrounded by numerous scantily-clad performers. Other men are depicted engaging closely with these women, and Yash participates as well, drawing one woman near and sensually pouring a drink down her face.

Nithin Renji Panicker on the Toxic sneak peek

Nithin utilized social media to highlight Geetu's hypocrisy, pointing out her selective memory regarding her previous opposition, particularly in light of her recent film project across the border. His remarks concerning Geetu's altered perspective on misogyny have garnered considerable backing online. Notably, even devoted fans of Yash have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Birthday Peek, which they believe resembles a promotional advertisement for an alcohol, condom, or perfume brand.

Several months prior, images from the set of Toxic were leaked, seemingly depicting portions of the sequence featured in the sneak peek. Following the unveiling of this footage, the creators opted to share this specific segment in response to fans who had been requesting an update for some time. Nevertheless, now that it has been released, there are claims that the announcement teaser was significantly superior to this latest offering.

Produced by KVN Productions, Toxic was meant to be an April 10, 2025 release, but it went on floors much later than expected, so it is unlikely to stick to this schedule. A late 2025 release is still on the anvil, it has been reported.
