Chahatt Khanna, renowned for her roles in popular television series such as Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Qubool Hai, has also appeared in various films, including Thank You and Prassthanam. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, she discussed the prevalent issue of actors being pressured to compromise within the South Indian film industry.

Chahatt Khanna on shady contracts in film industry

Regarding her experiences with the casting couch, Chahatt stated that she has not encountered it personally, but she did address the existence of dubious contracts in the film sector. She remarked, "In the past, it was common to hear about 'compromise'—this is something that occurs everywhere, particularly in the South. The South Indian film industry is quite transparent about these matters, yet they maintain a level of respect for women. A similar situation exists in Bollywood, but it is less openly acknowledged; such terms are not explicitly stated in contracts."

She further noted, "I have encountered individuals who actually include 'compromise' clauses in their contracts, indicating that one must make concessions with the director, producer, and co-actors, except for the spot boy. While I have heard many such stories, I have never been subjected to that myself."
