Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends With Us, has expressed her support for Blake Lively amid recent controversies involving Justin Baldoni related to allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation concerning the film adaptation of her novel.
On Saturday, Hoover took to Instagram to commend Lively, stating, “Blake Lively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive, and patient since the day we met.”
“Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.” The post also featured a link to an article discussing the lawsuit Lively has filed against Baldoni, who serves as both the director and lead actor of the film.
Reports from Us Weekly, TMZ, and The New York Times referenced the court documents indicating that Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni on Friday, December 20. In her lawsuit, Lively accused Baldoni of orchestrating a “social manipulation” campaign aimed at tarnishing her reputation and fostering a “hostile work environment” on set. This legal action followed several months of tension during the production of It Ends With Us, culminating in a meeting in January 2024 to address Lively’s concerns.
Baldoni's attorney denies ‘outrageous’ claims in Lively's lawsuit
The lawsuit outlined various requests made by Lively, which encompassed prohibitions against displaying nude videos or images of women to Blake, refraining from discussing Baldoni’s purported prior “pornography addiction,” avoiding conversations about sexual conquests in the presence of Blake and others, eliminating references to the genitalia of cast and crew, ceasing inquiries regarding Blake’s weight, and discontinuing mentions of Blake’s deceased father.
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, refuted all allegations, labeling them as “completely false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious.” Freedman contended that Lively initiated the lawsuit to “repair her negative reputation” and to “rehash a narrative” concerning the film’s problematic production. He further claimed that Lively issued “multiple demands and threats” during the filming process, including threats to abstain from appearing on set or promoting the film.
In her response to The New York Times, Lively stated, “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.” She denied disseminating any negative information regarding Baldoni.
