On Republic Day, Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, delivered a moving homage to India during his concert in Ahmedabad. His performance of Vande Mataram struck a profound chord with the audience, showcasing a deep connection to the occasion.

On Sunday, Chris and his bandmates took to the stage at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for a captivating performance.

During the concert, Chris skillfully altered the tempo, moving from an energetic display to a more serene ambience. Taking a seat at the piano, he infused a calming melody into the performance, establishing a peaceful atmosphere.

As Chris positioned himself on the piano bench, the audience's excitement heightened, and he commenced with a rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by Maa Tujhe Saalam. The crowd was immediately entranced by the heartfelt performance, and as the final notes lingered in the air, they erupted into enthusiastic cheers and resounding applause. He concluded with the words, "Salute to Mother India."

Subsequently, he returned to his guitar and performed several of his popular tracks.

About the performance

Coldplay's concert in Ahmedabad took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, located in the Motera area, on January 25 and 26. This event marked the commencement of their Music of the Spheres India tour, which began in Mumbai on January 18. The band performed at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21. Throughout the performances, Coldplay acknowledged actor Shah Rukh Khan and cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, and they also expressed their regrets to India regarding the historical injustices perpetrated during the British Raj. Additionally, Chris Martin participated in the fifth anniversary celebration of the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.

On January 26, this significant event was broadcast live on Disney+ Hotstar, starting at 7:45 PM.
