Coldplay, the British band, just wrapped up their concert tour in India, with their last show happening in Ahmedabad this past weekend. During the performance, frontman Chris Martin made a playful comment about being from Telangana, which definitely got Vijay Deverakonda's notice.

What did Chris Martin mention?

As the band finished their shows in India, Chris made a lighthearted comment about them being an Indian band since all the members come from different regions of the country. In a video that went viral, Chris humorously claimed he was from Telangana.

In the clip, Chris says, “Everyone knows I’m from Telangana.” During the concert, he expressed his gratitude to the band, saying, “I want to thank the rest of the guys. We’ve been like brothers for 29 years, and it’s truly incredible to be a part of this. What many of you might not realize is that all four of us were born in India, so we’re basically an Indian band.”

He then gestured to bassist Guy Berryman and said, “He might seem like he hails from Scotland, but actually, he’s from Tamil Nadu. As for me, everyone knows I’m from Telangana. And let’s give a warm welcome to our drummer, straight from Ahmedabad, 100 percent Gujarati. In many ways, he’s the glue that holds our band together—the amazing, super talented, and a bit intimidating Will Champion.”

Vijay Deverakonda shares his thoughts

Vijay shared a clip from the video on his Instagram stories, giving a warm ‘welcome’ to the singer. He captioned it, “Chris Martin (heart emoji) welcome! Someone should totally create a Podusthunna poddumeeda X Coldplay mashup.”

Podusthunna Poddumeeda is a track from the 2011 movie Jai Bolo Telangana, which revolves around the Telangana movement. The late Chakri composed the song, while Gummadi Vittal Rao, also known as Gaddar, wrote and performed it. Gaddar was a poet, singer, and a communist revolutionary who advocated for Telangana's statehood.

Vijay, who recently appeared in The Family Star and had a cameo in Kalki 2898 AD, is set to take on new roles in upcoming projects directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Rahul Sankrityan, and Ravi Kiran Kola.
