The British band Coldplay concluded their final performance in Mumbai on January 21 at DY Patil Stadium. During the concert, Chris Martin, the lead vocalist, took a moment to pause and read a humorous letter, which he asserted was from "the lawyers of Jasprit Bumrah."

Chris Martin expressed his apologies for the interruption during the performance, stating, “I sincerely apologize, but I must read a letter from Jasprit Bumrah’s attorney. It is imperative that I do so, as failure to comply could result in legal consequences that would prevent us from performing in Ahmedabad.”

As he read the letter into the microphone, Chris stated, “Dear Coldplay, during your first and second concerts, you referenced Jasprit Bumrah without obtaining permission. This is unlawful—you cannot mention Jasprit. Who do you think you are, you foolish Englishman? Furthermore, it asserts that Mr. Jasprit Bumrah is the finest bowler in the world, while you are merely a trivial singer.”

When the audience reacted negatively to Chris’ final remark, he replied, “That’s perfectly fine. We hold great admiration for Jasprit Bumrah; he is exceptional. Therefore, could we please display footage of Jasprit Bumrah outclassing England on the screen to rectify the situation?” A video clip showcasing Bumrah dismissing an England batsman during the 2024 home series was then played in the background.

One audience member commented, "I was present, and it was absolutely hilarious." Another remarked, "Just Chris Martin and his amusing anecdotes, man." A further comment read, "This was so unexpected and really energized both me and the crowd; it was fantastic." One fan added, "Now Jasprit must attend Coldplay's show in Ahmedabad."

Chris Martin has previously acknowledged Jasprit Bumrah during their concert in Mumbai. He took a moment during the performance to commend the Indian fast bowler, referring to him as the "greatest bowler in the world." Bumrah subsequently expressed his appreciation on social media, stating, "This made me smile! Incredible vibe at the @coldplay concert in Mumbai (from what I’ve seen here) and even more special to be mentioned. ✨"

The Mumbai concerts by Coldplay, part of their Music of the Spheres tour, have been met with tremendous success. Notable personalities such as Shreya Ghoshal, Suhana Khan, Navya Nanda Naveli, and Kajal Aggarwal were seen enjoying the performances.

The band is now preparing for the final two shows of their India tour at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. For fans who were unable to obtain tickets, there is encouraging news—the concert on January 26 in Ahmedabad will be live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
