1 month ago | 5 Views
Recently, there have been circulating rumors suggesting that actor Chiranjeevi is set to receive UK citizenship in recognition of his philanthropic contributions, particularly in the healthcare sector. However, his team has refuted these claims, urging the media to verify information before disseminating it.
Chiranjeevi’s team addresses the rumors
Over the weekend, various fan and meme pages propagated the news that Chiranjeevi would be awarded honorary UK citizenship. One meme that gained traction on social media, shared by his fan pages, proclaimed, “Another significant achievement. Another jewel in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s crown! The UK government will honor him with honorary citizenship.”
Eager fan pages further circulated the information, stating, “His philanthropic initiatives, especially in healthcare, have garnered him international acclaim. A grand ceremony of recognition will take place in London.” Nevertheless, Chiranjeevi’s team has confirmed that this information is inaccurate. Their statement reads, “Reports regarding Megastar Chiranjeevi Garu receiving honorary UK citizenship are untrue. We kindly request news organizations to verify facts before publishing such news.”
Reasons for fans' belief in the rumor
Fans, wishing for the news to be true, expressed disappointment upon learning that the rumors were unfounded. One fan noted on X (formerly Twitter) that Chiranjeevi had referenced an event in the UK during the pre-release event of Vishwak Sen’s Laila, which contributed to the initial belief in the veracity of the news.
Chiranjeevi humorously engaged with anchor Suma in February, stating, “I nearly revealed something, but I managed to hold back. Will you be able to travel to London to host an event? They are set to honor me there. However, you will need to purchase your own flight tickets.” Although his remarks were made in jest, the actor has gained a reputation for inadvertently disclosing film plot details and news during events, leading some to speculate that he might have been serious.
Upcoming Projects
Chiranjeevi was last featured in the 2023 films Bhola Shankar and Waltair Veerayya. The latter, which included co-stars Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan, achieved commercial success. In contrast, Bhola Shankar, a remake of the 2015 film Vedalam, featured Keerthy Suresh as his sister but did not perform well at the box office. The actor is set to appear in Vassishta’s socio-fantasy drama Vishwambhara, which was initially scheduled for theatrical release during Sankranthi this year. Additionally, he has approved a project directed by Srikanth Odela, known for his work on Dasara.
