‘Children Bank of India’ in Sikandar: Goof-Up or Genius Comedy?

The trailer for Salman Khan's film Sikandar was unveiled earlier this week. This action-packed entertainer features Salman in the lead role alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sathyaraj. The trailer provided a sneak peek into the grand universe of the AR Murugadoss-directed movie. While fans have expressed their admiration for Salman's performance and the thrilling action sequences, observant viewers identified what appeared to be a mistake involving counterfeit currency.

Counterfeit currency featured in the Sikandar trailer

In one scene from the trailer, Salman and several companions are seen in a taxi driven by Jatin Sarna's character. As Jatin's character objects, Salman's Sikandar hands him two bundles of ₹500 notes, intended to represent a substantial sum, approximately ₹1 lakh.

However, shortly after the trailer's release, an Instagram account highlighted this scene, zooming in on the notes and revealing that they bore the inscription "Children's Bank of India" instead of the standard "Reserve Bank of India." The account remarked, "Did you catch this in the Sikandar Trailer? - Salman Khan gives the taxi driver a bundle of notes labeled 'Children Account.'"

The internet reacts

The video achieved over 100,000 views within the first 24 hours, attracting numerous comments that debated the purpose behind the alleged 'lapse.' One viewer remarked, "With a budget of ₹400 crore, how can there be such a lack of attention to detail?" Another commenter expressed frustration, stating, "Why are directors so determined to ruin Salman’s films?" Conversely, some defended the scene, arguing that it was merely a fleeting moment and that one should not expect real currency to be utilized on a film set. "Most films use prop money; this is not a new practice," one user noted. Another added, "So, will they use real notes?"

A commenter also suggested that Salman’s fans should not take the meme to heart, as it was simply a critique of the film. "Why is everyone so upset? We love Salman, too, but this isn’t a criticism of him. It’s just a failure to pay attention to details. How could they make such an obvious mistake in the trailer?"

However, not all viewers believed this was an error. "It could be intentional comedy within the film. A production of this scale wouldn’t make such a blunder," one fan wrote. Another added, "I think this is deliberate and may serve a purpose in the storyline."
