D Gukesh, the chess prodigy from India, achieved a historic milestone last week by triumphing over China's Ding Liren in the pivotal 14th game of the FIDE World Championship match conducted in Singapore. He has expressed his gratitude for the immense support he has received from the public, including notable figures such as Rajinikanth and Sivakarthikeyan, whom he encountered in Chennai on Thursday.

D Gukesh took to his X account on Thursday morning to share photographs from his meeting with the renowned actor Rajinikanth. The actor was dressed in a black kurta and a grey lungi as he posed for pictures alongside Gukesh and his parents—his father, Dr. Rajinikanth, an ENT surgeon, and his mother, Padmavathi, a microbiologist. During the meeting, Rajinikanth presented Gukesh with a shawl and a copy of Paramahansa Yogananda's 1946 spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi.

In his caption, Gukesh expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Superstar @rajinikanth sir, for your warm wishes, for inviting us, and for spending time sharing your wisdom (folded hands emoji).” On the professional front, Rajinikanth is set to appear in Lokesh Kanagaraj's action thriller, Coolie, which is scheduled for release in cinemas next year.

Gukesh's encounter with Sivakarthikeyan

Gukesh recently posted images from his encounter with Sivakarthikeyan. In the photographs taken at the chess prodigy's residence in Chennai, Sivakarthikeyan is depicted wearing a light-colored T-shirt paired with black trousers. He is shown both posing for photographs and engaging in conversation with Gukesh. Additionally, there are images of Sivakarthikeyan presenting a luxury watch to Gukesh and serving a customized chess-themed cake to the young champion. Gukesh expressed in the caption, “I had a wonderful time with @Siva_Kartikeyan sir, who graciously took the time to be with me and my family despite his hectic schedule, and we truly enjoyed ourselves!”

Sivakarthikeyan has received significant acclaim for his performance as Major Mukul Anand, a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, in Rajkumar Periasamy's war film Amaran. He is set to appear in upcoming projects directed by AR Murugadoss and Sudha Kongara.

In a remarkable achievement, 18-year-old Gukesh triumphed over China's Ding Liren with a score of 7.5-6.5 in Singapore last week, making history as the youngest world champion. This accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by the legendary Russian player Garry Kasparov, who became champion at the age of 22 in 1985.
