India, April 3 -- Since achieving the title of the youngest world champion in history, D Gukesh has garnered significant attention wherever he appears. The Indian Grandmaster was recently spotted at the wedding of Vidit Gujrathi, where he displayed some impressive dance skills.

Gujrathi, also a Grandmaster, married Nidhi Kataria on April 2, and the event attracted several notable guests, including Gukesh, Viswanathan Anand, and Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri.

In an unexpected turn, Anand also participated in the dancing, joining Vidit on stage.

At just 18 years old, Gukesh holds the title of World No. 3 and is the top player in India. During a recent event, he reflected on the challenges his parents faced while supporting his journey to becoming a Grandmaster. "I recall how my parents' friends helped sponsor my participation in tournaments abroad. It was a tough time, and we received assistance from many generous and selfless individuals. Fortunately, the past year has been financially rewarding for us," he shared.

"It means a great deal to me that my parents no longer have to worry about finances. We can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, free from the struggles we once faced."

On another note, Gukesh experienced a disappointing performance at the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam in Weissenhaus and is preparing for the upcoming event in Paris. Commenting on his Freestyle Chess experience, he stated, "I don't dwell on it too much. Freestyle is thrilling, and I enjoy participating. However, it's premature to determine its trajectory, as we've only had two serious freestyle tournaments thus far."

"I hope freestyle gains popularity, but I don't foresee it overshadowing traditional chess. The history and legacy of classical chess provide it with greater significance. The World Championship cycle remains the most crucial aspect for now. Freestyle serves as a valuable complement to classical, rapid, and blitz formats. We will have to see how it evolves. I am open to all possibilities," he concluded.

Gukesh was also recently in top form at the Tata Masters in Wijk aan Zee but had to settle for second place as he lost to R Praggnanandhaa in the tie-breaker title-deciding round. In the Paris Grand Slam event, he will also be joined by Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi.
