Russell Brand, who faces allegations of rape, is being pursued for $300,000 by the prominent publishing house Hodder & Stoughton due to his failure to deliver two non-fiction books as stipulated in a contractual agreement. The actor and comedian, recognized for his bestselling memoir My Booky Wook, has not fulfilled his writing commitments, leading the publisher to initiate legal proceedings for breach of contract, as reported by RadarOnline.
Russell Brand in breach of contract over two books commitment
Court documents filed in the UK indicate that Brand's company, Pablo Diablo’s Legitimate Business Firm Ltd, entered into an agreement with Pac Millan in January 2021. This contract required him to produce two additional "original literary works of non-fiction" and provided him with an advance of $740,000. Previously, the publishing house collaborated with Brand on his earlier works, Recovery: Freedom From Our Addictions in 2017 and Mentors: How to Help and be Helped in 2019.
The two books that Brand failed to deliver included one that was due by May 2021 and another that was to be completed by the end of that year. However, as of September 2023, neither book had been submitted. Pac Millan terminated their contract with Brand in December 2023 and is now seeking $300,000 in compensation for "wasted expenditure" from him and his company.
The legal documents reveal that the contract signed between Brand and the publisher stipulated that he was to "personally fully perform and fulfill such obligations and pay to Macmillan all damages that may arise in consequence of any such default." According to Pac Millan, the 49-year-old has "failed to produce the typescripts for the books at all."
Russell Brand trying to get close to Trump
Brand has been accused of rape and sexual assault nearly two years after an investigation was initiated by detectives in the United Kingdom in response to several allegations. The charges involve incidents with four women that occurred between 1999 and 2005. Prior to facing these charges, Brand relocated to the United States, where he began to cultivate a relationship with Trump. As reported by RadarOnline, Brand was frequenting Mar-a-Lago in an effort to forge influential connections that might assist him in evading UK law enforcement.
Sources informed the publication, “Brand is quite astute and is strategically focusing on Trump and his supporters to ensure he is not extradited to Britain if charges are filed. He understands that by aligning himself with President Trump, he can count on his support to prevent any potential return to the U.K. should that situation arise.”
