A new development has emerged in the divorce proceedings of Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal. According to a report from Bar and Bench, the couple, who initiated divorce proceedings in February, has been living apart for over two years.

Separated since 2022

The report indicates that the Bombay High Court has been approached by the couple to request the waiver of the six-month cooling-off period prior to finalizing their divorce. A decision from the court is expected tomorrow, March 20. This urgency is attributed to Chahal's upcoming participation in the IPL, which is set to commence on Saturday, March 22.

The couple, who married in 2020, has been separated since June 2022. The court is considering this exception due to the couple's extended period of separation, which exceeds two and a half years, and their mutual agreement regarding alimony payments.

Decision tomorrow

When the former couple filed for divorce in February at the family court, they also sought to have the cooling-off period waived. However, the court denied this request at that time because Chahal had not completed the full alimony payment. Out of the agreed ₹4.75 crore, he had only paid ₹2.37 crore.

Subsequently, they escalated the matter to the High Court, which acknowledged compliance with the consent terms. The court stated, "Thus it is clear that there is no impediment in the facts and circumstances of the case in granting the applications... Accordingly, the impugned order dated 20th February is quashed and set aside, and the writ is allowed," thereby granting their request.

Speculation regarding Dhanashree Verma and Chahal's divorce began when they unfollowed each other on Instagram, leading to widespread rumors. Dhanashree has faced significant online trolling as a result.

In response, she addressed the situation on Instagram, stating, "The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact-checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate."
