Coldplay bids goodbye to Mumbai

The official Twitter account of Coldplay shared a photograph featuring all four band members in front of the audience at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday night, shortly after concluding their third and final performance at the location.

“From the depths of our hearts, thank you Mumbai (green, white, and saffron heart emojis, symbolizing the Tiranga). It was a dream realized to perform three concerts in your magnificent city. We will always cherish the feelings you evoked in us. We shall return! (sparkle emojis),” read the caption.

Coldplay is currently on their second tour of India. Following the completion of three concerts in Mumbai, they are set to proceed to Ahmedabad for a two-day performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and January 26. Their concluding concert in India this year will be streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26, coinciding with Republic Day.

Coldplay's Mumbai concerts

During their inaugural concert on January 18, Coldplay's lead vocalist Chris Martin endeared himself to the audience by engaging with them in their native languages. He commenced by stating in Marathi, “Tumhee saghre aaj chaan distat” (You all look beautiful today).

Subsequently, he expressed in Hindi, “Aap sab ka bahut swagat hai humare show pe. Mumbai mein aakar hume bahut khushi ho rahi hai” (You are all very welcome to our show. We are very happy to be in Mumbai). "I apologize for my limited proficiency in Hindi and Marathi, but I made an effort," Chris remarked before transitioning to English.

The British artist expressed his gratitude to the Indian fans for the opportunity to perform in one of "our favourite places in the whole world." "This marks our fourth visit to India and our second performance here... We could not have wished for a better audience. It is incredible how warmly you welcome us,” Chris stated.
