The country music icon had to deliver an a cappella rendition of "America the Beautiful" due to complications with the background music. Fortunately, the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club provided support, allowing the 41-year-old artist to affirm her role as the inaugural performer for the new administration.

The artist known for "Cowboy Casanova" performed a patriotic song in front of former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. With former President Trump and other officials present, Underwood encouraged the audience by saying, “You know the words — help me out here.” Despite the unexpected circumstances, she maintained a positive demeanor throughout her performance.

For her appearance on Inauguration Day, Underwood chose an elegant white dress, complemented by dangling diamond earrings and a silver bracelet. After her surprising performance, she greeted Trump and Vice President JD Vance with a handshake. Underwood was part of a star-studded lineup for the day's events.

Lee Greenwood delivered "God Bless the USA," while Christopher Macchio performed the national anthem. Underwood's performance followed criticism from The View co-host Joy Behar, who labeled her as “unAmerican” for accepting the invitation to sing on Inauguration Day.

Behar remarked, “She says, ‘I love our country.’ How can one profess love for their country while supporting and normalizing someone who has been convicted of a crime and seems intent on undermining it, in my view? I find it difficult to reconcile expressing love for the country while also normalizing this convicted felon,” referring to Underwood.
