CBS Cancels Two Fan-Favorite FBI Spin-Offs: What Happens Next?

Numerous social media users have voiced their frustration regarding CBS's decision to cancel two beloved series, ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ and ‘FBI: International’. According to a report from Variety several weeks ago, the network will discontinue these spin-offs of the original FBI series after their current seasons conclude.

This announcement follows the renewal of the original FBI series, which premiered in 2018, for three additional seasons last April, ensuring its continuation until 2027.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ was the inaugural spin-off of the FBI franchise, launching in 2020 with a cast that included Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Nathaniel Arcand. After McMahon's departure after season 3, Dylan McDermott took over as the lead.

Conversely, ‘FBI: International’ premiered in 2021, featuring Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, and Christiane Paul in prominent roles.

Additionally, a new spin-off titled ‘FBI: CIA’ was announced in January of this year, with Dick Wolf serving as the writer and executive producer alongside David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Peter Jankowski.

In response to the cancellation news, one fan expressed on social media: "So FBI International and FBI Most Wanted are getting canceled?!" Another user remarked, "I just found out that two of my shows have been canceled. Why are the FBI International and Most Wanted being discontinued? Both are excellent shows with plenty of potential. The articles I read did not provide any reasons."

A different user shared their discontent, stating, “So let me get this straight: I'm expected to move on to next fall/spring with the uncertainty surrounding the hunting party, canceled SWAT, FBI International, and FBI Most Wanted.”

Another fan added, “I hope they consider making FBI International and Most Wanted available on Paramount+ or another platform. These shows are too valuable to be canceled.”

Here are potential endings to the two series

FBI: Most Wanted (Season 6)

Probable conclusion: Dick Wolf's series frequently conclude with a blend of case resolutions and character development. The upcoming 100th episode (Season 6, Episode 14, “100%”) features Hana Gibson (Keisha Castle-Hughes) and her boyfriend Ethan caught in a hostage situation, as reported by ScreenRant. This scenario may serve as a crucial test of the team's unity. The finale is expected to center around a significant confrontation—potentially involving a returning antagonist or a personal adversary for Remy—while also resolving various storylines:

Remy: He may either strengthen his bond with Abby or opt for solitude, showcasing his evolution from a solitary figure to a leader.

Nina: There is a possibility of her reconciling with Scola, which could lead to her returning to the FBI (where Shantel VanSanten initially appeared), providing a suitable exit.

Team: Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) and Ray Cannon (Edwin Hodge) might receive commendable farewells, such as promotions or personal achievements (for instance, Ray’s connections to family in New Orleans).

FBI: International (Season 4)

Probable conclusion: The global mandate of the Fly Team indicates a finale with international implications, potentially involving a multi-nation operation. Key storylines may unfold as follows:

Wes: In Episode 16, titled “Little Angel,” emotional repercussions with Ella are hinted at, as she seeks assistance in rescuing an American CEO in Prague. The finale could feature Wes confronting his past, including the reasons behind their breakup, while spearheading a bold mission that solidifies his position as a decisive leader.

Team: Original members such as Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto) and Andre Raines (Carter Redwood) may receive significant moments—Vo tackling a technology-driven case and Raines utilizing his field expertise. Additionally, Tank the dog might achieve a heroic rescue.

Resolution: The cancellation of FBI: CIA enhances the prospects for the finale, which could introduce elements for that spinoff (for instance, a domestic terrorism case transferred to New York), while allowing the Fly Team to exit on a high note—potentially disbanding with honor or relocating.
