Bollywood Ignored His Contributions, But Allu Arjun Honored Ganesh Acharya in Pushpa

Choreographer and director Ganesh Acharya openly discussed in a recent interview how Bollywood has consistently overlooked his contributions, in contrast to the recognition he received from Allu Arjun for the Pushpa films. In his conversation with Bharti TV, he expressed his belief that the southern film industry holds greater appreciation for its technicians compared to the Hindi film industry. Here are his remarks.

Ganesh Acharya on Allu Arjun and Bollywood

Ganesh expressed that, while he does not hold the entire Hindi film industry accountable, there is a significant concern regarding technicians not receiving adequate recognition. He noted that, although he has been fortunate not to encounter difficult behavior from stars, he has witnessed last-minute changes in choreography to accommodate their preferences. He remarked, "There is a pervasive sense of ego in the Bollywood industry. Ego should not be present."

The choreographer further shared that his experiences in the southern film industry were markedly different, particularly in relation to Allu Arjun and the Pushpa films. "Allu Arjun reached out to me and said, 'Masterji, it is because of you that people are appreciating my work.' No one in Bollywood has ever acknowledged my contribution to their success. He even invited me to a success celebration in Hyderabad, which I initially assumed would be a small gathering for food and drinks. Instead, it turned out to be a grand event where every crew member was recognized for their role in the film's success. I witnessed something like that for the first time in my life. Why don’t we implement such practices here?"

Recent work

For those unfamiliar, Ganesh was the choreographer for "Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava" and "Daakko Daakko Meka" from "Pushpa: The Rise," as well as for "Pushpa Pushpa Pushpa," "Gango Renuka Thalli," "Kissik," and "Sooseki" in "Pushpa 2: The Rule." Additionally, he contributed his choreography skills to songs in "Devara: Part 1," "Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video," and "Game Changer."
