Shekhar Kapur and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi's daughter, Kaveri Kapur, has embarked on her Bollywood journey with her debut in Kunal Kohli's romantic drama, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story. In this film, she portrays the romantic interest of Vardhan Kapur, the grandson of the late Amrish Puri, and the movie was released on Disney+ Hotstar.

Kaveri addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding nepotism in the film industry and the frequent criticism faced by star children regarding their performances, revealing whether such scrutiny causes her any anxiety.

Kaveri on feeling nervous

Kaveri expressed her awareness of the pressures associated with her Bollywood debut, stating, "I feel a sense of nervousness and hope to be well-received by the audience. I recognize the ongoing debate surrounding nepotism and appreciate the perspectives on both sides. It is understandable that there is frustration regarding the lack of opportunities for outsiders. However, nepotism is prevalent in various professions; for instance, a doctor's child often follows in their parent's footsteps, just as a lawyer's child may choose the same path."

She continued, "Moreover when one is raised in an environment where they are passionate about a particular field, it is only natural to pursue that interest. Coming from a privileged background, it would be unwise to disregard the opportunities that present themselves. Those who express negativity towards star children should reflect on their own circumstances—if they were in a similar position, would they not seize the same opportunities? It is essential to consider another's situation before passing judgment."

Kunal Kohli reveals Shekhar Kapur's reaction

Filmmaker Kunal defended Kaveri, emphasizing that her father, Shekhar, played no part in her casting. He stated, "It is essential to clarify that Shekhar never contacted me, nor did Suchitra. Shekhar did not reach out to Disney+ Hotstar to arrange a schedule for his daughter's film. There was no involvement from him whatsoever. In fact, I initiated the call to Shekhar to express my desire to collaborate with her. He was taken aback and responded, ‘Really?’ He inquired if she genuinely wished to pursue this opportunity, and upon my confirmation, he simply provided me with her contact information. He asked me, ‘How and why?’ and after I explained my rationale, we both shared a laugh about it."

Directed by Kunal Kohli, renowned for his works such as Fanaa and Hum Tum, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story chronicles the relationship between Bobby and Rishi, who discover their love in Cambridge but are separated by the trials of life. The film delves into their intense romance as they confront unresolved issues, differing beliefs, and unexpected obstacles that challenge the strength of their love. In addition to Vardhan and Kaveri, the cast features Nisha Aaliya and Atul Sharma in significant roles.
