Bob Dylan is set to embark on the 2025 segment of his Never Ending Tour. The forthcoming performance dates mark his first appearances following the debut of his biopic, A Complete Unknown, featuring Timothee Chalamet. Remarkably, the 83-year-old artist has chosen to perform in less populated cities rather than the major urban centres typically favoured by high-profile performers.
Bob Dylan announces first show dates for 2025 tour
Since the commencement of the tour in 1988, Dylan has revealed four performance dates to date. The tour will kick off at the Tulsa Theater in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 25, followed by a performance at the Century II Concert Hall in Wichita, Kansas, on March 29. The subsequent shows will take place at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center in Mankato, Minnesota, on April 4, and at The Weidner-Cofrin Family Hall in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on April 6.
These forthcoming performances will mark Dylan's first since the successful debut of his biopic, which has garnered eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The film, directed by James Mangold, depicts Chalament, who has received a nomination for Best Actor, portraying a 19-year-old Dylan as he arrives in New York City in the early 1960s. Mangold himself has also been nominated for an Oscar for Best Director for this film, as reported by People.
Dylan expressed his admiration for Chalamet's performance in the upcoming biopic through a statement posted on X in December, stating, “A film about my life titled A Complete Unknown is set to premiere soon (what an intriguing title!). Timothee Chalamet is taking on the lead role. Timmy is an exceptional actor, and I have no doubt he will portray me—whether as my younger self or another version—convincingly.”
He further noted, “The film is based on Elijah Wald’s book Dylan Goes Electric, published in 2015. It offers an excellent recounting of the events from the early 1960s that culminated in the Newport debacle. I encourage you to read the book after watching the film,” to which Chalamet responded, “I am truly honoured. Thank you, Bob.”
