Amaran, the Tamil film starring Sivakarthikeyan and inspired by the life of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, has been a breath of fresh air for Tamil cinema in 2024, which has been struggling lately except for a few hits. Its success reached new heights when Netflix, the film's parent platform, chose to showcase it to the contestants of Bigg Boss Tamil season 8, marking it as the first film ever streamed in the show's history.

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8: Amaran is the first movie to be streamed for the contestants.

Bigg Boss Tamil is a reality show where a group of housemates lives together in a house that's totally isolated from the outside world. In its debut season, the show surprised the contestants by screening a movie for them, and they ended up watching Amaran.

So, as we mentioned before, Amaran is now streaming on Netflix, and the streaming service set up a special movie night for the contestants of Bigg Boss Tamil season 8. The housemates got to catch the film on Friday night, and it was featured in Saturday's weekend episode. Netflix even hooked them up with popcorn and drinks while they enjoyed Amaran, which stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan. Fun fact: Kamal Haasan hosted the earlier seasons of the show, and Rajkumar was the director for the reality series.

Amaran is inspired by the story of Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army. He received the Ashok Chakra posthumously for his brave actions with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion. The movie draws from the book India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes, written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.

You can catch the film on Netflix, available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
