We had earlier reported that actor and politician Kamal Haasan has decided to step down as the host of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, after hosting continuously eight seasons of the show. Now, on Wednesday, the makers of the show announced that actor Vijay Sethupathi will be stepping up as the anchor.
Vijay Sethupathi to host Bigg Boss season 8
Kamal Haasan made his small screen debut with Bigg Boss Tamil and had successfully hosted all the seasons so far. However, recently, he released a statement that he will no longer be anchoring the show. He had said that due to prior cinematic commitments, he is unable to host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil.
Now, on Wednesday, makers announced officially that actor Vijay Sethupathi will be hosting the upcoming season of Bigg Boss. The new promo shows Vijay Sethupathi suiting up, as we are unveiled as the new host. It is to be noted that Vijay Sethupathi had earlier hosted cooking reality show MasterChef Tamil earlier for SonyLIV. Given how the actor is outspoken about his thoughts, it will be interesting to see how Vijay Sethupathi will anchor the show.

All the seasons of Bigg Boss Tamil are available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The contestants for the upcoming eighth season are not yet to been unveiled, and so is the premiere date.
Bigg Boss Tamil is a reality show, which follows the format of internation show Big Brother. Bigg Boss Tamil has witnessed a run of seven seasons so far, with Kamal Haasan as the host. The show’s format includes several celebrity contestants locked up in an isolated house that is disconnected from the happenings of outside world. With no internet connection, and tasks being thrown at them, the contestants have to sustain inside the house until the final. Each week, a contestant is evicted as per viewers’ voting. The anchor makes an appearance during the weekend episodes to interact with the contestants virtually.
