Bigg Boss Kannada Season 11: Will Kiccha Sudeep host? Actor weighs in

For 10 seasons of Bigg Boss Kannada’s TV version and a mini OTT season, Kiccha Sudeep has diligently hosted the popular reality show. With the 11th season likely to be announced shortly, rumours sprang up that there could be a change of host, as Sudeep is keen to dedicate more time to acting gigs, now that he has decided to do more than one film at a time.

During a recent press briefing, Sudeep addressed these rumours, saying, “I wish they were true and that the makers of Bigg Boss Kannada are indeed looking for someone else to host the show.” The actor was quick to add that he is currently in talks with the makers of the show. “I dedicated 10 years of my life to this show. Bigg Boss Kannada is a huge effort from my end. Everyone knows I host Bigg Boss Kannada, but does anyone try to understand how I do that?” the actor asked.

Kiccha Sudeep then proceeded to give the example of the last season, which coincided with his shooting schedule for his next film, Max. “I had night shoots for the film and would sometimes pack up in the wee hours of the morning, like 3 am or so. To avoid time spent at the airport waiting for a commercial aircraft to fly me back home, I had chartered a flight for the entire duration of Bigg Boss Kannada 10. I had to get from Mahabalipuram to Chennai and then fly to Bengaluru. This would allow me time to meet my parents before heading to the set of Bigg Boss Kannada,” he explained.

Once there, Sudeep would have to watch previous episodes, discuss the course of his weekend shows and by the time he’d finally be able to get some well deserved rest, he would have gone without sleep for at least a day and a half. “The next morning, we’ll shoot one episode between 9 am to, say, 2 pm, take a couple of hours break and return for the next one. Often, I would head from the Bigg Boss Kannada set directly to the airport to fly back to Chennai and head to Mahabalipuram to resume work on Max,” he added.

This, said Sudeep, was the effort required over only one weekend. “Imagine how tasking this would be for a duration of the 100-day show with at least 4-5 weekend shows in a month. Eventually, I began wondering if I am doing justice to my film, the show or to myself. I have enjoyed myself doing Bigg Boss Kannada, but there comes a point when it is time for you to move on. In this regard, I have had a discussion with the makers and it was not that I am not keen to host it anymore. We’ll soon know what’s come of it,” he said.
