During her appearance at Ideas of India 2025, Bhumi Pednekar reflected on the stark contrast in pay between herself and a male co-star who began his career around the same time. She disclosed that she was offered a role with a salary that was merely 5% of what her co-star received.

The actress recounted that her male counterpart earned 80% more than she did. "We were both leading the film, yet he received 80% more. I accepted the role because I felt I had no other option," she stated, recognizing that such disparities are prevalent not only in the film industry but also in corporate settings, particularly regarding the salaries of male versus female CEOs.
Bhumi Pednekar acknowledges the potential existence of the casting couch
In addition to discussing pay disparity, the actress from Mere Husband Ki Biwi addressed the topic of the casting couch. Although Bhumi, who transitioned into acting after her tenure as a casting director with YRF, mentioned that she has not personally encountered the casting couch, she does not dismiss the experiences of other women who have. She expressed her belief that the casting couch may exist, as corruption is a pervasive issue across various industries.

Bhumi's latest film, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, has been released in theaters and is garnering mixed reviews. Despite a lackluster opening on Friday, the film showed improvement in its performance on Saturday.
She is poised to make her debut in the web series arena with Daldal. In this production, the actress portrays a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) who grapples with demons from both her past and present. Additionally, she is involved in Netflix's The Royals, as well as the projects Sanki and Takht.
