Director Priyadarshan made the psychological thriller film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 17 years ago. Director Anees Bazmee turned it into a horror comedy two years back. He borrowed the iconic Manjulika from the first film and made an original version. Rajesh Sharma acted in this film along with Vidya Balan.
Recently, Vidya visited Kolkata during her promotional activities. Kartik Aaryan accompanied her. The actress, while answering a question, reacted to the RG Kar incident that took place in Kolkata in August. Vidya said that she was heartbroken when she heard such a heinous crime took place in a city like Kolkata. “Main hil geyi thi (I was shaken to the core). Kolkata is one place where respect for women is not just a saying. People really do respect women here. So, when I heard the news I was heartbroken exactly like the people here. I was in disbelief. Eta to Maa er shohor (this is the city of Maa). How can something as gruesome as this happen here?”
