Singer Sona Mahapatra has criticized actor Salman Khan for his comments regarding the notable age difference between him and his Sikandar co-star, Rashmika Mandanna. She referred to him as the "bhai of toxic masculinity."

On Monday, Sona expressed her disapproval on X, previously known as Twitter, regarding Salman’s defense of the 31-year age gap with Rashmika Mandanna. Salman had stated that if neither Rashmika nor her father had an issue with the age difference, then others should not be concerned.

In response to his statement, Sona remarked, “If the heroine and her father have no problem, then when he gets married, and... his dismissive response to the question about the 31-year age gap with his leading lady is unacceptable.”

She further stated, “The ‘BHAI’ of toxic masculinity and patriarchy fails to recognize that #India has evolved.”

What did Salman say about the age-gap?

During the trailer launch of his latest film on Sunday, Salman addressed the criticism regarding his choice to work with the younger Rashmika, emphasizing their 31-year age difference.

He commented, “Then they say there’s a 31-year gap between me and the heroine. But if the heroine has no issue and her father is fine with it, why should you have a problem, brother? When she gets married and has a daughter, I will work with her daughter too. Her mother’s permission will be taken care of.” Rashmika was seen laughing at Salman’s remarks during the trailer launch.
