Discussing the factors that led to the dissolution of his marriage, the actor-director remarked, "There is no scandal, no dramatic narrative, and no hidden agendas. The reality is that when someone asks, 'What happened?' there isn't a straightforward answer. It’s simply a narrative about individuals attempting to navigate their lives and relationships in the way that many of us do. As I grow older, I find this to be true for myself, and I believe it applies to most people as well. There isn't a clear 'this person did that' or 'this was the pivotal moment.' It resembles more of a couples therapy session, which, after a while, you might find yourself tuning out. You begin to think, 'Clearly, this individual has certain issues.' The reason I hesitate to share these details is that it feels somewhat embarrassing and exposes my vulnerability."

Ben Affleck further expressed that he does not want the public to assume he harbors negative feelings towards Jennifer simply because they are no longer together. "I hold nothing but respect for her. There seems to be a tendency to analyze breakups in search of underlying causes. However, as I mentioned, the reality is far more mundane than most people might expect or find intriguing," he concluded.
