Baldoni's Footage Sparks Controversy: A Closer Look at the Lively Allegations
3 months ago | 5 Views
Justin Baldoni is countering Blake Lively's lawsuit, which accuses him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her.
Baldoni’s attorney has shared unedited footage from their film ‘It Ends With Us’ with The Daily Beast, asserting that it “clearly contradicts Ms. Lively’s portrayal of his conduct.”
Conversely, Lively’s legal representatives contend that the video actually “supports” her claims. They challenge this interpretation in a statement to TMZ, describing it as “damning.”
“Every frame of the released footage aligns precisely with what Ms. Lively detailed in Paragraph 48 of her Complaint,” the statement asserts.
The footage in question depicts the two actors performing a slow-dance scene that was ultimately included in the film as part of a montage. Lively’s lawsuit, filed in December, alleges that Baldoni “leaned forward and slowly dragged his lips from her ear down her neck as he said, ‘It smells so good,’” which she cites as an instance of his inappropriate conduct.
“When [she] later objected to this behaviour, Mr. Baldoni’s response was, ‘I’m not even attracted to you,’” the lawsuit further states.
Baldoni's lawyer releases video to dispel allegations against the director
Baldoni's legal representative, Bryan Freedman, informed The Daily Beast, "All three takes were filmed in the sequence" on May 23, 2023. Freedman emphasized that "Both actors are clearly conducting themselves within the parameters of the scene, demonstrating mutual respect and professionalism."
The footage also captures Lively and Baldoni engaging in a discussion about enhancing the romantic atmosphere of the scene. At one moment, they share a light-hearted exchange regarding their spouses. Baldoni notes that he and his wife often gaze into each other's eyes for long durations, which leads Lively to humorously label him a "sociopath," while she mentions that she and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, prefer conversation. Baldoni subsequently praises Lively and Reynolds as a couple, to which Lively responds, "I think it’s more than cute."
Concerning the purported "smell" remark, the video depicts Baldoni nuzzling Lively's neck, during which she jokes about her "spray tan" potentially coming off. Baldoni chuckles and responds, "It smells good." After completing the final take, Baldoni calls out, "Cut," to which Lively concurs, stating, "Yes, we did."
Freedman asserts, "Justin Baldoni and his team have nothing to conceal. This video further substantiates that claim." He also mentioned that a website will be established "to include all correspondence and pertinent videos that directly refute [her] allegations."
