Nevertheless, the premiere on December 26, featuring talents such as Yim Siwan, Park Sung Hoon, Park Gyu Young, Kang Ha Neul, and Lee Jin Wook, has significantly enhanced the show's visibility. Regardless of personal opinions, it is undeniable that Season 2 has emerged as one of the most significant productions in Netflix's history, achieving a record-breaking debut and ranking No. 1 in 92 out of 93 countries listed in the platform's weekly rankings from December 23 to 29.

BTS' V / Kim Taehyung Squid Game rumours

Years of speculation have culminated in this moment for BTS ARMYs. Season 2 has already introduced a cast rich in K-pop talent, featuring former IZ*ONE member Jo Yuri, ex-BIGBANG vocalist T.O.P., also known as Choi Seung Hyung, and ZE: A's Siwan. With Netflix seemingly revealing the premiere date for Season 3 as June 2025, fans are revisiting past clues that connect the series to BTS' V. Notably, Taehyung was seen wearing a Squid Game guard costume during the K-pop group's PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE concerts in Los Angeles. Additionally, he and the show's lead actor, Lee Jung Jae, captured a selfie together, which remains on the latter's Instagram, suggesting they may have spent time together on multiple occasions.

Furthermore, it is believed that V shares a strong friendship with Siwan. The newcomer to Squid Game Season 2 has previously mentioned Taehyung in an interview, noting that he was one of the last individuals added to his Instagram following list at that time.

Squid Game lead actors respond to BTS V rumours

Recent discussions surrounding the potential involvement of V in the third instalment of Squid Game have reignited interest in past speculations. During a recent interview with BuzzFeed UK, Lee Jung Jae and his co-star Wi Ha Joon were directly questioned about these rumours. The outlet, aiming to satisfy the curiosity of the BTS ARMY, posed the inquiry without hesitation.

The expressions of the Squid Game actors brightened noticeably upon hearing V's name mentioned. Lee promptly interrupted the conversation, stating, “I can't say anything about that,” while a smiling Wi Ha Joon opted for a “No comment” response.

Despite this, optimistic fans have not interpreted their replies as a definitive dismissal of the idea of “Kim Taehyung” making a return as an actor.
