The prayer gathering for the late actor Deb Mukherjee, who was the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, is taking place in Mumbai on Tuesday. Notable personalities and friends of Ayan, including Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Aditya Roy Kapur, were seen attending the event.
Bollywood Stars Attend Deb Mukherjee’s Prayer Gathering
A paparazzi account shared several videos online featuring celebrities arriving at the prayer gathering. In one clip, Ranbir is seen inside a car, where he asks the photographers to step back so he can close the windows. The actor was attired in white for the occasion.
A different video captures Vicky Kaushal wearing a casual blue shirt and denim, folding his arms and acknowledging the paparazzi in attendance before entering. Aditya, attired in white and blue, also acknowledged the photographers with a nod before quickly making his way inside.
Ayan appeared dejected as he looked down, yet he acknowledged the paparazzi in attendance, expressing his gratitude when they extended their good wishes. He also clasped his hands in a gesture of greeting before departing.
A number of other notable figures, including Sham Kaushal, Kunal Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, Babita Kapoor, Anupam Kher, and others, are also present at the prayer gathering.
Deb Mukherjee’s Passing
As reported by, Deb Mukherjee passed away on the morning of March 14 after a lengthy illness at his residence. He was 83 years old. A spokesperson for him expressed, “We are profoundly saddened to announce the demise of Mr. Debu Mukherjee, an actor and a pivotal figure in the North Bombay Durga Puja. He departed from us this morning.” His final rites took place at the Pawan Hans Crematorium located in Juhu, a suburb of Mumbai.
Kajol, Ayan’s cousin and an actress, who is grappling with the loss of her uncle, remarked that she is still coming to terms with the idea of a ‘world without him.’ She shared a photograph of herself with Deb from one of their cherished Durga Puja celebrations in Mumbai on Instagram, captioning it, “I’m still adjusting to the thought of a world without him. To one of the finest men I’ve ever known. Rest in peace. You will be loved, remembered, and missed every day of my life. #debumukherji #youareloved.”
